Portland Art Museum ArtX Program

Want to earn some community service hours for NAHS and learn more about the Portland Art Museum? Here's an opportunity..

ArtX is a unique opportunity for high school students from 10th to 12th grades to learn about art and the Portland Art Museum. This is a free scholarship-based program, and space is limited. Participants are chosen by their application essays and letters of recommendation. Joining ArtX includes the opportunity to build skills through in-class discussions, written responses, artmaking activities, and volunteering for the education department either assisting in instruction with our studio art program or in an administrative capacity.
ArtX meets alternate Tuesday afternoons4 - 5:30 pm November 13, 2007 - May 13, 2008The Museum is looking for enthusiastic and curious students for this special program. ArtX students are expected to arrive on time to the side entrance of the Museum with a notebook and a pencil for each meeting. Participants must commit to attending all ArtX meetings, with two or fewer excused absences. ArtX students are required to call if unable to attend a meeting or will be late. ArtX students must respect all Museum rules, and complete a minimum of three volunteer hours with Portland Art Museum’s Education Department.
