Cash Awards
The deadline for registration for youngARTS 2008 has been extended until October 12, 2007. youngARTS™ is an awards program that identifies and rewards exceptional student artists from across the U.S. with cash prizes of up to $10,000 and the chance to be named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Seniors in the 2007-2008 school year or graduates who will be 17 or 18 years old on December 1, 2007, are eligible to apply. The final deadline is now October 12, 2007, with audition/portfolio materials due November 5, 2007.

Each year, youngARTS, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA), invites up to 150 artists in nine art disciplines (cinematic arts, dance, classical music, jazz music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing) to participate in youngARTS Week, a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Miami consisting of performances, master classes, workshops, readings, exhibits and enrichment activities with renowned artists and arts educators.

In addition, at the exclusive request of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, NFAA nominates up to 60 youngARTS finalists for the Commission's consideration to be named as Presidential Scholars in the Arts. • $10,000 Gold Award, given to up to 15 deserving finalists;
• $5,000 Silver Award, bestowed to as many as four finalists in each of the nine youngARTS disciplines;
• $500 to $3,000 Awards for Level I, II, III and IV, granted to remaining youngARTS finalists.

Honorable Mention and Merit Awards ($250 and $100 respectively) are also available for those students not named a youngARTS Week finalist but still ranked in the top 5% and 10% of the registrant pool.
